Peace During the Storms

What’s with all the storms these days? COVID, vaccine death cover-ups, the Russia and Ukraine war, North Korea, China and Taiwan, Iran and Israel, rapid inflation, schools indoctrinating but not teaching fundamental skills (no more testing for math or English competency), de-fund the police, no cash bail, gender confusion, DA’s soft on crime, no cash bail, the word “freedom” is a slogan used by terrorist (along with parents who disagree with school boards). And on and on it goes and where it will stop, nobody knows.

Considering all of this, there are a few ways available to maintain your personal peace, at least temporally.

  1. You can go ostrich by completely disconnecting with the reality of what is going on by never viewing “real news” (if you can find it). Saying “La, la, la” with your ears plugged will help drown out unwelcome words and if some troubling words slip through, making a fresh batch of snikerdoodle cookies will work great as an antidote, at least for awhile.
  2. Or, you can run to your favorite little “helper” be it weed or alcohol, drugs and the like to dull your background anxiety.

  3. Or, you can enter into a relationship with the very epitome of peace, Jesus Christ AKA “The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). Oh no, not Jesus the offending (Matthew 11:6) Savior!

  4. Here is a short list about what makes Jesus special.
  • Born by a virgin as told hundreds of years prior to His Birth.
  • His coming was foretold.
  • Performed miracles.
  • That He would be killed.
  • That He would live again.

For those interested, here is a link to 351 prophecies about Jesus that were fulfilled:https://semperkeith.com/gospel/abible52.html

Jesus calms the sea: Mark 4:37-41.

Jesus gives His followers a blessing of peace: John 14:27.

Jesus foretold what was going to happen to His followers so they could have peace: John 16:33.

So, call me a simpleton, but when someone as special as Jesus arrives on the scene (as foretold), heals the sick and raises the dead and calms the sea and is resurrected after being crucified as documented by eyewitnesses, I tend to pay attention to what Jesus said. This is especially true since I am a lot closer to the end of my life than when I started and certainly, death can be easily understood as a coming storm, actually, the biggest storm we all face. So, I like what Jesus said in John 11:23-25:

Martha said to Him, “I know that he (Lazarus ) will rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”

Like Martha, I also believe.

So, while there are many storms going on that sooner or later will directly effect us. We can likely expect that some day, we will wake to realize that our lives have changed. Regardless, I have inner peace because many of the things that are going on right now, have been foretold. I am well orientated, I know who I am, where I am, why things are the way they are, what is coming and what will be my final abode. God’s Plan for mankind makes sense to me and I enjoy being in a state of peace (without the need for the snikerdoodles).

If you are feeling fearful due to life’s storms… here is how you find lasting peace.

Also, John 6:44 says that nobody comes to salvation unless God draws him. (Definition: draw: to cause to go in a certain direction (as by leading). If you feel that God is subtlety drawing you, feel free to contact me with questions about eternal salvation, God’s Way. I don’t know everything and I have no seminary pedigree, but, through a lifetime of Bible study and just living life, I think that I have a pretty good understanding of what God is doing in relation with mankind and why. I would be happy to share what I have learned with absolutely no pressure.
