What the Bible says about Heaven

Sitting on clouds and playing harps? Wow, that simplistic idea sure sells Heaven short.

Sure Heaven will be a wonderful place, but the best part is Who we will be with. We will be in the very presence of the one and only living God, our Creator. The one that made us to fellowship with Him, sort of like in the beginning with Adam and Eve.

This whole earth is living under the curse of evil and not only do snakes and sharks bite and weeds grow, mankind has this evil within him. If suddenly mankind started doing the right things, this world would be a lot better in a measurable ways. Along with better humans, if we changed the demeanour of animals and got rid of mosquitoes, what God has made here is pretty good. The water cycle, the oceans, the different landscapes, Yosemite, Yellowstone and the four seasons. Wow, what a great place! One way I look at Heaven is if all the good of this existence was distilled out and put in one place with the God of love that made everything, what a great place that would be.

The Bible says in: 1 Cor 2:9, that Heaven is so wonderful that we cannot even imagine it. But think about having your hearing range expanded, so in Heaven you hear sounds you wouldn't otherwise. Same thing with the range of our vision, how cool things would look if we could see colors in the infrared and ultraviolet ranges. And everywhere you went, whoever you met was a real family member. Well, my musings are fun, but let's see what the Bible says about Heaven:

Heaven is being prepared by Christ Himself.
It is only for those that are "born again."
It is described as a glorious city, likened to pure gold and clear glass.
The name of this new city is the New Jerusalem.
It is in the shape of a cube with length, width, and height being equal.
Its size is roughly 1,400 miles long, wide, and high.
The city rests on 12 foundational stones, with each layer inlaid with precious gems.
Each foundation has one of the names of the 12 apostles on it.
The wall around the city is made of pure jasper.
The height of the wall is about 216 feet.
The wall has 12 gates, three on each of the four sides.
Each gate is made of solid pearl.
Each gate has the name of one of the 12 tribes of Israel on it.
An angel stands guard at each gate.
The gates will never be shut.
The River of Life is there to insure everlasting life.
The Tree of Life is there to insure abundant life.
The Tree will bare its fruit each month.
The throne of God will occupy the central palace.
The throne is likened to wheels of burning fire with a rainbow canopy. Rev 4:3
The throne is surrounded by 24 small thrones.
Near the throne stands the brazen layer, described as "a sea of glass," like crystal.
Besides the throne are four special angels who worship God continually.
The golden alter is there with bowls of incense.
The menorah, or seven branched lamp stand fixture is there.
The holy Ark of God may be there.
The main street of the city is composed of transparent gold.
The city will shine with and be enlightened by God's glory.
It is a place of holiness.
It is a place of beauty.
It is a place of unity.
It is a place of perfection.
It is a place of joy.
It is a place for all eternity. PS 23:6
There may be a tabernacle.
There will be no temple.
There will be no sea.
There will be no tears.
There will be no sickness.
There will be no pain.
There will be no death. 1Cor 15:26 Rev 21:4
There will be no more thirst or hunger.
There will be no more sin.
There will be no more judgment upon sin.
There will be no need for the sun or moon.
There will be no night.
The city will be the Bridegroom's gift to the bride, Christ's Church.
It will be shared by saved Israel.
It will be shared by the holy angels. Rev 5:11 Jeb 12:22
God the Father will be there. Rev 4:2-3
The Son, Jesus, will be there.
The Holy Spirit will be there.

Our Holy, God indeed, has reached and is still reaching out to people. He fashioned His Word, the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16). Selected out a nation (Israel) (Deu 7:6-8), taught them His Law, the 10 commandants (Exodus 20:3-17). The Law showed mankind that there was no way any of us could keep it and this confirmed, or should have confirmed, that compared to God, we are indeed all sinners. God established a solution for people to escape the punishment for their sins by the shedding of innocent blood, the sacrifices (Lev 17:11). Then, He told mankind in advance, (700 BCE) (Isaiah 52:13-53:12) that He would be sending His Servant, His only Son, that would live a perfect life and be killed to become the ultimate and final sacrifice (2 Cor 5:21). For those that would believe God and put their trust in His Servant's sacrifice, their sins would be forgiven and Heaven would be their certain destination (John 3:16).

Question? - Is Jesus the only way to Heaven?

Answer - Yes John 14:6, Acts 4:12

Objection! If Jesus is the only way, why are there so many different religions?

Answer:
One of Satan's names is "deceiver." His deception started in the Garden of Eden when he appealed to Eve's interest in becoming like God (Genesis 3:4-5). Satan's deceiving influence is still at work today in the minds of mankind (Eph 2:2-3). Lump all other religions together, for they all do the same thing, they minimize and make insignificant or completely disregard what Jesus accomplished by His death and resurrection on the cross.

Jesus said that not many people would make it to Heaven (Matt 7:13-14). Some think that the few number saved are because of some sort of failure in God's PR program. I see the few numbers as more of a problem with the deceitfulness of mankind's heart (Jer 17:9) and our propensity to somehow delude ourselves into thinking that we are our own god. Good luck with that.

God's Endgame: Revelation 21:1-8 "Behold, the tabernacle (dwelling place) of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."

This sounds good to me, I'm in, how about you? If so, check out this page.
